Job Description

Job Summary:

Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.


  • Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.

  • Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and references ranges for test methods.

  • Serves as a resource to staff as needed.

  • Assists in the training of employees, students and others under the direction of the Technical Specialist or Manager.

  • Maintains technical and clinical expertise in all technical areas (as assigned) and demonstrates appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance improvement activities.

  • Riverside Referral Desk only - Provides reference testing expertise and support to Outreach Staff, internal/external clients, including nursing and physicians. Monitors the Reference lab interface and pending log taking corrective action as needed.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist credentialed from the Florida Department of Health, licensure or eligible in hematology and chemistry; FL licensed in all disciplines preferred.


  • Associate Degree

  • Accredited Clinical Laboratory Training program required

Work Experience:

  • 1+ years Medical Technologist experience in a Generalist role preferred.
