Job Description

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Resident assures appropriate selection, dosing, administration and monitoring of medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, verifies and enters physician orders into the patient medication profile.

  • Manages medication therapy protocols as a part of physician-pharmacist-nurse team.

  • Compounds and dispenses medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas.

  • Provides medication information and education to medical staff and patients.

  • Accomplishes the learning objectives listed in the individualized Residency Learning (RLS) model.

  • Documents intervention and its outcome for use in medication therapy quality improvement efforts.

  • Provides direct supervision of all technical pharmacy staff positions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Enrolled

  • Currently enrolled or graduated from an ACPE accredited Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) program To apply for this position, you must have previously matched with the SMVC PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program through the National Matching Service
