This person must also be committed to putting the needs of our patients first. This desk is also the Walmart navigator for breast cancer patients.

Position description

Applies professional, medical secretarial expertise, exercising initiative and proficient organizational skills, performs high-level administrative support for physicians, patients, leadership and the institution. The candidate must exhibit confidentiality, flexibility, and accountability. Prioritizes heavy work volumes in a fast-paced environment. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling difficult or critical situations.


High School diploma or equivalent required. College preferred. Minimum of one year medical secretary experience is required for external candidates. Two years Mayo experience preferred if the individual has some previous clerical experience. Must type a minimum of 40 CWPM and pass a transcription test. Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional qualifications

Must possess strong computer/technical and office skills. Past performance should demonstrate strong leadership skills, including human relation and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with others. Must be able to efficiently handle a wide variety of tasks simultaneously and flourish in an extremely fast paced environment.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $18.03 per hour.
